Library

I have always enjoyed looking at and being in a home full of books.  As a child when I had to report to the class what our family collected, it was always books.  Now my husband, Chris, has an expansive library filled with "scholarly" books.  Our children have their own favorites.  But as much as I tried and try to enjoy reading, I would still much rather be doing..... sewing.  Here is a sneak peak at my precious collection of sewing books.  And I just added another one to my Amazon.com shopping cart: http://oliverands.com/book/.  I am dreaming about making the "red riding hood" for Izza and the "explorer vest" for Eli.... and sew much more!

Fresh

To describe my home..... Scandinavian fresh.... or at least that is what I have aspired to achieve with the colors, furnishings, and feelings within and around it.  It is this freshness that excites me when selecting fabrics.

I hope to reflect more of my Scandinavian heritage in my future work.  In the meantime it is apparent in my daughter, Izza Grace, and in the bold twist on Norwegian style that our home reflects.

Apprentice

My earliest and best memories are those of sewing with my grandmothers.  The thrill of my summers was sewing.  It was also when living on the edge meant sewing too fast!

Now my AamonTate, the hardest working of boys, has taken an interest in sewing.  He has the patience and attention to detail essential for the job.  I admire him for his plethora of skills.  Even if his interest in my sewing machine fizzles, he will always have his passion for construction & power tools to fall back on.

A dream

My dream of selling my handmade items has come true.  I have been selling bags and wallets since the summer of 2010 thanks to the encouragement of a wonderful 4-K teacher and my dear sister-in-law, Michelle.

I have always had a passion for selecting fabrics and for sewing.  Up until last year all of my creations had been given as gifts or enjoyed by our family. Now I am delighted that I have a hot-market for my items and that I can continue to give that which I have have created out of love and JOY.

I take custom orders and sell my creations exclusively at "Jackie O's Coffee House" in Galesville, WI.
